I have seen many photos of kitchens on the Internet and in some cooking magazines that are impressive. Some are truly the kitchen of your dreams and when you look at them you immediately assume that they are beyond your reach. This means that you might think that they will be too expensive. Most of the kitchens we see in advertisements are unaffordable for the average family. They may be made just for advertising, but I’m sure you can get close enough if you’re smart about it.
If you’ve chosen a kitchen from a magazine or the web, print it out and see what you can do with your kitchen to achieve that look. Start with the cabinets. Do your cabinets need to be replaced or can you just refinish yours? If you need to replace them, try to buy something that is more like the one pictured. It doesn’t have to be exactly the same brand but an imitation, your own imitation. You can get something within your price range that will be very similar to your desired look.
Once you’ve removed the cabinets, you can try doing the same for the sink. There are enough different types and colors of sinks on the market that you should definitely find something close enough. Remember, if it’s just a little bit different, it can still be wonderful.
So now that we’ve taken care of the sink and cabinets, we can do the walls. Buy the tiles that closely resemble the tiles in your dream kitchen. You can find it online or in a store, but try to look at the fine details of the picture, because sometimes advertised kitchens have backsplash tiles. You may not be able to find the exact backsplash in the photo, but you can create your own which might be even better. Go grocery shopping and buy all the necessary supplies. If you haven’t done this before, go online and look up how to install tile and backsplash. You will be guided through the entire process and it will be easy.
Unless you really want to, you shouldn’t use the same tiles that you used for the walls on your floor. Look at the picture closely and try to figure out what kind of tiles are used. Chances are you can mimic it very closely if it’s made of ceramic.
After changing the cabinets, sink, walls, and floors, you can now add some of your own finishing touches. This can include the curtain, vases of flowers, or whatever you find comforting. You can have the kitchen of your dreams at your own budget.
