Camera technology has developed a lot over the years. What used to be a black and white photographer has been transformed into a high quality moments photographer and video recorder. Photography has also become a favorite hobby for many people. Those people are not necessarily professionals who use their skills to earn money, but are simply in love with photography.

Another reason besides the hobby that makes people love photography is that by capturing those moments, you could keep those memorable events for future use. Let’s say you are on a trip to Bali on a Christmas vacation with your families. You have wonderful experiences there. Wouldn’t it be great if you could capture those moments, and sometimes in the future, looking back through the photos in the album and still feeling the remnants of those wonderful experiences?

Currently, there is a wide range of camera selection on the market. You can choose a simple and less expensive pocket camera than a highly advanced and expensive DSLR camera. This could cause confusion among many less advanced photographers. As such, this article aims to answer a simple question: “What makes a good DSLR camera for less advanced photographers?”

one). Automatic settings. The automatic setting will allow you to do what you need to do most, which is take pictures and record videos. Many features are nice, but they could simply overwhelm less advanced photographers. Of course, if you are trying to be a professional, you should avoid the pocket camera. There are many features in the DSLR camera that are not available in the pocket camera.

2). Megapixel (MP). Basically, the higher the MP of a camera, the better. With that, you could take photos with even greater clarity and less noise. However, there are other factors to consider, such as the camera sensor and image processing engine.

3). Good shutter speed. If you are about to take photos of your kids playing soccer and your camera lags in shutter speed, you will definitely miss some precious moments. Therefore, the shutter speed is important. Even better if your camera could shoot multiple frames per second. If you’re a sports and wildlife photographer, split-second shutter response is a non-negotiable.

4). Full HD recording capability. If you plan to shoot some videos, Full HD capability is a must. Anything less than that is simply not enough. Why would you need a video recording capability in a camera? Simple answer, in case you need it. In addition, it is more convenient to bring a device that can perform two functions.

5). Price. Let’s say you are an amateur or semi-professional photographer. It would surely be better if you could buy a high-tech DSLR. However, those cameras are expensive. Well, if you’re willing to spend a lot of money, go for it. But, with a limited budget, you have to choose which affordable DSLR camera best suits your needs.

Those are several factors to consider before buying a new DSLR camera. The next big question is: “Is there a camera on the market that meets all of the above requirements but isn’t that expensive?” Well, there are several options available on the market, all with their own advantages and disadvantages.
