How important is truth in business? You probably just answered in your mind that the truth is very important in business. Did you know that there are two kinds of truth in the business world?

The first type of truth is the one we all know; it could probably be called the truth of the court; the kind of truth that is nothing more than a fact and defines our character.

It can be argued that the truth is exaggerated, but that puts us in the field of another kind of truth, a truth that is characteristic of entrepreneurs. It could be called truth of vision. The reason it could be called vision truth is because it is a natural extension of being an entrepreneur.

Man will one day fly. Man will walk on the moon. Oceans will be crossed in hours, not days. These statements may sound trite to you, but at one point they were seen as ridiculous, exaggerated, or far from the truth.

At this time, they are taken for granted and discarded. In more recent times, we have witnessed the fabric of the computer age in our lives. The phrase, a computer on every desk, seemed far-fetched. Talking computers seemed so far away.

They were truths told by entrepreneurs who could clearly see the future, perhaps difficult to believe at the time of their mention, but truths yet to be confirmed.

This is the other kind of truth. Not just the truth that shapes the future of the day, the decade, or the century, but the truths that shape the direction of humanity. Real entrepreneurs have such a clear view of the truth (future) that sarcastic comments are brushed aside while the visionary entrepreneur goes ahead to embed the truth of him in society.

Richard Branson and Bill Gates speak a truth that billions of people hear. Walt Disney had such a strong vision that the truth about Mickey Mouse is undeniable, especially to a child.

It was this childhood dream that matured into a vision and became a truth to be revealed to the rest of the world.

The truth must be told and the truth of your business vision must be defined for the rest of us to accept as truth.
