Background: The driving market town of Dunmow is home to around 7000 people. Once a Roman settlement, it is located in the Uttleford district of North West Essex, UK. Stansted Airport is the city’s iconic neighbor. Dunmow, also known as Great Dunmow, earned the status of a favorite shopping center as a result of the excellent quality wool produced and supplied.

Landmarks: If you are interested in the history and development of the town, the Great Dunmow Museum, as well as the Malting Museum within the Great Dunmow Museum, are the place to visit. The museum opened in 2001, you will find anything and everything in the area here. Little Easton Manor is a gardener’s paradise with lakes and beautiful flora and fauna. Easton Lodge Gardens features restored Italian gardens and a mini museum.

Flitch Trails โ€“ The town is probably best known for its quadrennial event called the Flitch Trails. The event traces its roots to 1120 in the neighboring town of Little Dunmow. Every leap year, a married couple has to convince a jury of bachelors and bachelors that they haven’t quarreled for a year and a day. If this is successfully demonstrated, the pair will obtain a piece of bacon called a flitch and will be paraded down the town’s main street. The real goal of the trails is not just to have fun, but also to reaffirm the values โ€‹โ€‹of marriage prescribed in the Christian faith. A beautiful custom that I personally would love to attend.

Pubs and bars – Pubs and taverns are found on the edge of the old town. With names like The Boar’s Head, The Kicking Dickey and The Cricketers, you’ll have an endless variety to choose from.

Transportation – Traveling around the area is a bit tricky as the town is characterized by detours upon detours and more detours.
