Gates of Andaron is a cool and updated online fantasy RPG developed by Zemi, Int. then made by Gameforge. There are several neat game bullets that this game has. Though other free MMORPGs can be disappointing in certain areas like graphics, clunky keyboard controls, and the monthly charges that take away other joys in your life.

Gates of Andaron may not have a completely unique character type, but they do have elegant yet simple and nice races such as the cat, the feline, the human, and a race that is a fairy. Like other games in the same genre, each character type has its high points and low points (of course, that varies depending on which class you choose to match your race). The available classes are the Archer, the Nightwalker, the Warrior, the Priest, the Evoker, and the Wizard. These are, for the most part, sorts of recognizable fantasy-type MMORPGs – in free games we enjoy the evocative feline combo).

As you enter the world of Gates of Andaron, after selecting the type of class and race you want to be, you will enter the tutorial mode. The screen settings for hotbars and such are typical settings you’ll see in other online role-playing games. Unfortunately, not all boxes can be dragged and set exactly where you want them. You’ll notice that when playing as a summoner, the messages you receive when you attack will get in the way of your pets’ hotbar. Of course it’s not the end of the world, but it sure is a nuisance.

Leveling up is pretty advanced and doesn’t take long at the start of the game, and with the items you collect and the enemies you fight, everything seems pretty balanced, including the quests. Of course you could just level up, but there are easier ways and definitely more “fun” ways to level up by playing Gates of Andaron.

Continuing this free online MMORPG review, let’s take a look at the graphics. When I played GoA for the first time, comparisons between this and others came to mind… and if you’ve seen the images online, the first thing that comes to mind is definitely “WoW”. Of course, this is not only my opinion, but you can read it on the Internet (pictures are worth a thousand words, but in this case it is only three). Anyone who, despite looking “similar”, the graphics are smooth and nice to look at. The backgrounds in general, including the buildings and such, are impressive. Granted, it’s not top-notch compared to other games, but hey! it’s free isn’t it?

As we all know, MMORPGs were created to be played with a community of players, and Gates of Andaron is no different. This is what creates your fun factor and also what makes leveling up easier and “more fun”. The higher your level, the more likely you’ll need teammates to help you with your missions. Some people may choose to just play through the entire game, but Free Game Com would now have to say that then you’d miss the whole point of the game… you really would.

Sadly, at the end of this game review, Gates of Andaron is missing an in-game auction house. Although maybe it’s because it would be more difficult to write about a free online game, this would be the only factor that would really complete this game for me. Like others of its ilk, GoA has an afk shop system that works pretty well, you just need to be in a high-traffic area to sell. It is not seen in the PvP area, but there is dueling. Perhaps the PvP action happens in the war system I’ve seen, though I haven’t tested it yet. Maybe it’s something to be compared to Warhammer online. I’ll have to find out later.

Overall, Gates of Andaron is a well-crafted game that will likely get even better with time and more players. See you in game and thanks for reading.
