The Chocolate series is popular for its spectacular design and extremely elegant appearance. LG has done a remarkable job in introducing this series which has helped its sales skyrocket. LG BL20 Chocolate is a good example of that scenario. And now LG has introduced the BL40 New Chocolate. This phone by far would be one of the most beautiful devices I have seen this year or ever. It’s sleek, lightweight, has bold colors, and is unique, something not regularly associated with touchscreen devices. The first time you look at it you can’t help but admire how big the screen is. It has a great finish on all parts of the body and that aspect is given greater adherence with its black body and the shine it acquires.

The phone has a quad band network for its 2G services, while 3G services will depend on your network provider as well as the area/zone you are in. If your area doesn’t have 3G then it won’t work for you. It has dimensions of 128 millimeters high, 51 millimeters wide and 10.9 millimeters deep. Despite its large size and body build, it weighs 129 grams, which is actually not that bulky.

The best part of this phone, without a doubt, is its large 4.01-inch screen. This is reduced to about 345 X 800 pixels. The screen itself is a TFT touch screen that can display 16 million colors. A screen the size of 4 inches is amazing in itself. It is useful and creates a pleasant environment when you watch movies or videos and even when you surf the Internet, since you don’t have to scroll too far to read a certain page. In addition, the screen also allows the accelerometer sensor to automatically rotate the screen when its position is changed. The S-Class’ touch user interface is useful for easy maneuverability between menu functions. There’s also a proximity sensor for auto power off which is helpful in saving precious battery. Another fantastic feature is gesture control. This control allows the user to configure certain gestures that would load an application. These gestures will be initiated by swiping a pre-selected gesture on the screen with your finger. This adds a nice touch that adds to the quality feel of the user interface.

It would have been a shame if LG hadn’t put this gigantic screen to good use, and gladly it hasn’t. The phone comes preloaded with a video player that supports various formats such as MP4, DivX, XviD and H.263. Not only that, there is support to connect phone with TV using TV out cable. However, it should not be limited to just videos. Images can also be captured in super quality. It has a five megapixel camera with features to improve the quality of the captured image. Those features include Schneider-Kreuznach optics, autofocus, LED flash, GEO tagging, face, smile, and blink detection. All these features improve the quality of captured images and videos. It would be pretty useless to have great image and sound/video player functions until there is good storage space for that. That has also been taken care of. Internal memory of 1.1 GB and external memory of up to 32 GB are possible in this device. This external memory source is the microSD data card.
