A Terran Viking Race is one of the most complex and dangerous strategies for the Terran race in the Starcraft 2 PC video game. It’s also one of the most effective and surprising attacks you can do. It requires a good macro defense and knowing what your opponent is doing. The Viking run is so dangerous due to its limited ability to attack only ground units or air units. Once on the ground, avoid high damage units like Thors, Marauders, and Siege Tanks. Also remember to scan your opponents early on. If you notice your rush might fail, it probably will, so stop and change it. Use your vikings now to attack weak spots in your enemy’s base while building a counterforce to enemy units (probably somewhat effective against heavy units like marauders and dropships). However, if you notice that your enemy doesn’t have units that will effectively combat your Vikings, keep building. I usually build around two starports with non-stop viking jets and pumping (along with other units to defend my base like siege tanks and marines). Always scan your opponents base, don’t even bother building a rover after the first one. This is the build order I usually follow:
- 10 CVS
- supply depot
- Barracks
- refinery
- Update Command Center
- refinery
- Barracks Upgrade (Reactor)
- Factory
- Factory update (reactor)
- Expand the command center
- 1st starport, followed by a second
- Elevator Factory and Barracks (land them with tech labs)
- erect starports and connect to reactors
- Vikings (priority 1), Siege Tanks (priority 2), Marines (priority 3)
Once you build around twelve vikings then you should fly through all those weak spots you found while scanning and land your vikings right on your enemy’s main base. Destroy all the drones first, then go upgrade the buildings like the spawn pool or cyber core. Things that will make it difficult for your opponent to rebuild his forces. If your vikings deal any damage and are about to be attacked by a large force, back up and fly. Build more vikings, attack more weak points. Your enemy will soon try to attack you and get killed by your defense, or keep trying to defend the base from him while being killed by your small attacks. Good luck, have fun and good game!
