The super motorcycle labeled as the world’s fastest production motorcycle was officially launched in India last year. Anyone with a healthy balance in a Swiss bank account can now enter select Suzuki showrooms across the country and ride the Hayabusa.

Not really! The Suzuki GSXR1300, known as the Hayabusa, became the center of attention during the release of the Bollywood movie, Dhoom. Every motorcycle fan knew about the bike and Hayabusa gray market sales skyrocketed.

After Yamaha and Honda, Suzuki decided it was time for them to step onto the scene and become the third manufacturer to start selling super bikes in India. At Rs 12.5 lakh (ex showroom, mind you), the bike is super expensive, but the charm and passion of owning the fastest set of two wheels money can buy cannot be matched or replaced.

Weighing in at 236 kilos porky, the Suzuki Hayabusa is heavy, although once in motion, the agility of this machine completely overshadows its dimensions, thus breaking some myths associated with its handling characteristics.

Show the big bike a set of turns and it will respond with positive feedback. Even on rough roads, the suspension chews up ripples and keeps the driver nearly isolated, giving it a comfortable and flexible feel. With an advanced liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine, even the most experienced and talented drivers must respect the great beast.

However, driven sanely with the rpm needle below 4000 rpm, the Hayabusa responds smoothly as you ponder traffic or chew miles on the highway. With the lever, it only takes a few seconds to go beyond 100 km / h, and in the right conditions, the bike will reach a maximum of 296 km / h.

Three different power modes are a boon for riders not used to this kind of power. The Hayabusa is a motorcycle that most bike fans would love to own one day.
