Happy birthday doesn’t just apply to humans anymore. Dogs are celebrated for birthdays, adoption days, or even weddings. As with all celebrations, cakes and gifts are expected and appreciated. How to plan, what to buy, and how many guests to invite are just some of the questions you may be asking yourself.

There are many opportunities to celebrate your pet’s special day and you will both be happy about your decision. Doggie Bakeries will prepare a custom cake for your occasion. Gifts abound in any pet store. Dog-friendly bakeries are popping up at regular intervals and dog-friendly cafes often plan your party for you. That can include lunch and cake for your beautiful baby. Furry children have taken on a much higher place in our lives than in the past.

What to buy as a gift? Well, some dogs love to dress up. They may outgrow last year’s robe or pajamas. A warm sweater or coat may be nice if cold weather is approaching. Some dogs really know how to walk in boots and if they are sensitive little friends, booties will protect them from the weather.

Where does your dog or the guest of honor sleep? Is a new dog bed in order? Maybe they need a closet for their now ample wardrobe. Toy boxes are always welcome and can be simple and collapsible with soft sides or an elaborate wooden creation. Maybe you would like to get them a special toy. There are many to consider and the price ranges are just as varied. A dog that may have some separation anxiety may be given a Kong-type toy that can be filled with peanut butter or another treat and kept occupied for an extended period of time.

Will the party be inside or outside? That usually depends on the size of the dog and the number of guests. If your toy baby is hosting the party, the interior may be fine. If your dog is the size of a Doberman, the exterior may prove advantageous. There are facilities that can handle larger groups. Some doggy daycares will be happy to host your party and also clean up after the event. That is always a great benefit.

Whatever the occasion, whatever the reason, honoring your pampered pooch with a festive party will let them know how special they are. Not that there was any doubt before the event. Don’t forget the photographs. The pups in their cute outfits will make a great addition to your family photo album or scrapbook. Even a selection of hats will do if your dogs don’t like to dress up. Most small dogs are bound to adore cuddles. Some larger dogs with a more independent nature will only want the food. Whatever the reason or the breed of the dog, getting together with your friends and sharing your dog stories will prove to be an exceptionally enjoyable time.

As adoption day, birthday, wedding day or new puppy days draw near, it’s time to start making your plans to celebrate in a special way. Pull out the stops and enjoy the day.
