Don Aslett is called America’s #1 Cleaning Expert, and for good reason, he knows how to clean. He also knows a lot about time management, organization and how to get things done, but most of all, he knows how to clean. “Pet Clean-Up Made Easy” is his guide to cleaning up masses of pets, including what tools and products to use and where to find them. It’s a practical book that not only helps you clean up clumps, but also shows you strategies to “pet proof” your home and prevent clumps from occurring. Sounds like something Sun Tzu would teach: “Win without a fight.”

The book is easy to read and has the illustrations Aslett’s books are known for. Personally, I really like the illustrations in her books and I feel like they add to her message. They make books more fun to read. This book has a brief introduction and six main chapters.

Chapter One: Pet Grooming 101. This chapter covers important cleaning tools and techniques for all types of pet grooming tasks. I like that it lists different tools and what they are for, as well as what deodorants do and a few other little tips for various situations.

Chapter Two: Good Clean Life – With Pets. A chapter on preventive measures to avoid germs and keep your home free of clutter. Aslett discusses ways to control pet disease, disinfectants, and how to set up a pet control center, plus other top tips.

Chapter Three: Breaking and entering. A chapter on how to eliminate housekeeping problems by training cats and dogs. Cages, crates, and litter boxes are some of the topics covered here.

Fourth Chapter: In Case of Accident. This chapter contains suggestions for cleaning up pet masses. It’s not the most pleasant topic, but it’s important if you have a pet. Asless takes care of cleaning the urine and cleaning the feces. Also included is cleaning up vomit. Again, it’s not nice, but it’s important when you need it.

Chapter Five: Tales of Furry Animals. With most pets comes hair, so this chapter is about shedding, bathing, and flea control. There are tips on grooming, hair picking tools, and bathing your pet. There is also some great information on fleas and how to prevent or get rid of them, depending on what you need.

Chapter Six: Pets do the weirdest things. The last chapter of the book focuses on pet problems and occasional bad behavior. Pets that jump on things or people, crawl on dirt or mud, scratch and chew on things are some of the problems covered in this chapter.

If you have a pet, this is a great book to help you keep your home clean. It also contains some very practical tips for raising pets that will make the experience more rewarding for you and your animals. I highly recommend Aslett’s books as enjoyable, practical, and spot on (or should I say spot on) with their tips and strategies.
