In the recently released MMORP game called Rift: Planes of Telara, players can take advantage of the extensive macro creation system. Many gamers are unaware of their potential and skip them entirely, but they are extremely helpful in making your daily gameplay easier and faster.

Macros in Rift allow you to perform various automated tasks with a predefined script, and their use is perfectly legal. The macro system allows you to define which spells you want to cast or which abilities to use, and you can even queue multiple abilities to cast one after the other. But this is just one of the things you can do by using macros – you should definitely be familiar with all slash and macro commands, then you can easily create your own custom macros for the classes you play.

A great example of a macro would be one created for the Warden and Sentinel souls, which are part of the so-called Cleric. A ward is a very good healing class and has access to a lot of healing over time (HoT) spells, and having them crowd your action bars frequently can be overwhelming and confusing. That’s why you can create a macro to have all these healing abilities easily accessible with just one action bar icon, but by using different key modifiers you can cast any of these spells. Key modifiers can be the ALT, CTRL, or SHIFT keys. You can even go a step further and make these spells castable on the target you currently have your mouse over. This way you won’t even have to spend time selecting the player you want to heal, but you will have very fast access and response time.

There are pre-made macros like this that you can find on various forums and guild fan sites, but they’re usually scattered around the web and it can be hard to find exactly what you’re looking for. There’s a great macro resource that you can use that has a bunch of different macros that you can just copy and paste into the game’s macro editor window and they’ll work right out of the box. They are very useful and can significantly improve your in-game performance and help automate a variety of tasks, such as healing or damage. Be sure to visit the resources below to find out which are the most useful macros for your vocation and class.
