My 12 Tips for Selling on eBay are designed to help you earn as much money as possible. It’s very easy to make what many would consider a minor mistake that could end up taking a significant toll on your profits.

Although my list is compiled with the home business person in mind, they apply equally if you are just cleaning junk items from your home.

12 tips for selling on eBay

  1. Always try to start your eBay career by selling personal items that are superfluous for the requirements. You will quickly learn how to take and upload photos, write captions, and write good descriptions.
  2. Items with brand names always sell better than non-branded items. ‘Sony 50’ ‘TV’ is more powerful than just ’50’ ‘TV’
  3. Getting the title right is absolutely vital and could mean your item is selling rather than the competition. Don’t waste characters on words that no one will search for. People rarely put model numbers or adjectives like nice, beautiful, comfortable, etc. But include keywords related to the product if you have the space.
  4. Your description must be complete. Include everything you would like to see there, including colors, dimensions, weight, etc. Be honest and use the spell checker.
  5. Find out why you should sell by filling out the eBay search box with your item description, then click on ‘completed items’ in the left sidebar to find out why they sold.
  6. If you need to save space in the title bar, there are commonly used abbreviations on eBay. BN – brand new, BNWT – new with tags, BNIB – new in box, BIN – buy it now and VGC – very good condition. Use them only if absolutely necessary.
  7. Be careful about auction end times. You don’t want them to end in the middle of the night. This sometimes happens when a listing is listed in a country other than yours.
  8. It may seem obvious, but don’t sell things out of season, barbecues in December, it happens!
  9. eBay sometimes has “free listing” weekends, watch out for these.
  10. I cannot advise on taxes, but remember that if you have an eBay business, you should seek professional advice.
  11. Feedback is everything. Do everything you can to protect it by providing exceptional service. If you need a refund, please provide it quickly and willingly.
  12. Advertising free delivery is a powerful marketing tool.

I hope you find my eBay selling tips helpful, there are many more, but if you get all of the above right, you’re on your way to becoming the next eBay seller.
