I remember flipping through late-night TV hoping for the answer to my financial woes, and it did, on a late-night real estate investing infomercial. I loved. I loved the idea of making money from real estate investing. The next few weeks I read book after book after book. Then I moved on to buying courses and as soon as I bought my first course I expected things to change right away.

I expected the cash to start rolling in, the deals to start pouring in, the business to grow by leaps and bounds, basically for things to start happening. He expected a “magic pill”. I was hoping this new program I just bought and spent a ton of money would be the “magic pill” I was looking for!

But it was not…

Here I was spinning my wheels getting nowhere because I was trying to run before I knew how to walk. I was trying to hit the big numbers even before I hit a small one. Most people spend thousands of dollars to go to college and get a piece of paper saying they’re smart. There is no guarantee that after spending thousands of dollars on a college education and earning that diploma, they will be successful in life. That they will get a good paying job from the start, or that they will start a successful business, or that they will be financially free. There is no guarantee, only expectations.

By the same token, when these people invest in a program to learn how to start a business in real estate, Forex trading, eBay, etc., they expect to buy the program and have money fall from the sky. They get a program, push a few buttons, make a few phone calls, send a few emails, and then expect to strike it rich overnight!

How do I know this? Because I went through the exact same thing. It was the search for the “magic pill”. The pill that will cure everything, answer everything and solve all your financial problems. The one shot method to success. I’m sorry to say it doesn’t exist. Overnight success or wealth only happens when your “rich” uncle dies.

Success is a process, not a “magic pill” that can happen in one gulp. Success to be realized in your life takes time. For some it takes years, for others it takes months, and for a few they begin to see incredible success in just days and weeks.

Once we understand that success is a process, that it takes time and that we must give it the necessary time to be realized in our lives, only then will we be on the path to becoming a successful person. It’s one thing to say affirmations and truly believe that you’re a successful person, even when you don’t feel like it, but it’s another thing to expect to get rich or expect to cure your problems overnight.

I only realized this after the third or fourth course I bought and didn’t see any success. I’m sure you know it’s because I expected the “magic pill” to do everything for me as I sat and watched. When I finally discovered that my mindset was wrong, it took me time to change it. Once I did, I began to apply the programs and financial training that I purchased and finally began to see results in my business and in my life.

I eliminated the “magic pill” mentality. I knew that through dedication, perseverance and hard work I can expect, believe and expect great things in my life while having realistic and achievable goals. That’s when everything changed!

After 2 years of running around in circles in the real estate business, I finally started getting results! I knew that success is a process, I knew that I needed to apply the training that I had, give it the time that it needs, and then I will see the success that I was looking for.

Don’t let it get to the point where it takes you years to figure this out like it did for me. Don’t even let it get to the point where it takes months. I think if you make this change, this change in mindset, then you can start seeing the results you’ve been looking for sooner rather than later. So lose the pill and gain some will!
