As an active Christian and professional counselor, I have often come across clients who come to me pale-faced and trembling because they have believed they have committed the unforgivable sin. That is to say, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I tell them from my own experience that I have recorded in a book so that these people discover for themselves that such a crime can only be committed when they die. There are many people recorded in the past who died cursing Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. That my dear friends is the unforgivable sin. You have died breathing your last breath cursing the only redeeming name that can save your soul. Jesus. When he dies, he cannot turn around and ask for forgiveness because his will and his breath are long gone.
God is a loving God. He is always ready to listen to a repentant heart. Many men or women who curse have received forgiveness on the Cross simply by acknowledging their sin and allowing God to forgive them and allow them to move on in life. Many wonderful hymns have been written from that craggy place on our knees speaking of that ‘once I was blind and now I see’ place. from hymn writers like John Newton and his wonderful hymn “Amazing Grace.” He (Newton) went on to give God all the Glory through his writings.
Think of the curse of the philosopher Voltaire, who declared that the Bible would no longer be on earth within 100 years of his death, yet his home where he lay on his deathbed cursing the Name of Jesus Christ, became a editorial for Bibles! He died in a state of unforgiveness. Once dead, he had no more will or breath to renounce his curses and ask God for forgiveness. You will see that you must confess your sins with your own breath and tongue, BEFORE you die. Otherwise, your will is not yours once you die.
What a tragic experience it is to attend the funeral of an unbeliever in the crematorium, where the funeral director declares in a bold voice: “… so and so ………….. did not believe in a God and did not want any religious recognition of such an entity. “
I’m not interested in theological technicalities. All that interests me is the nature of God. What is its nature? Is he loving and caring or is he, as the song says? “From a distance, the world seems to be in harmony, ending with the lyrics, God is watching us. from a distance ” written by Julie Gold and sung by Bette Middler. Is it really remote? Or is He tangible in our hearts to feel? God understands our hearts. He is always ready to let us turn a new page and start over. Look at the wonderful hymns John Newton wrote that we still sing today with a lump in our throats. How tragic if God had assigned a life of doom and damnation for Newton if he never allowed such sinful behavior (his drunkenness and curse) to be washed away and forgiven. Yes, it is a very serious offense to curse the name and works of Jesus Christ for the works that he performed solely by the power of the Holy Spirit. Yet God, all merciful, just wants to take every cursing tongue and wash it with His love and put it back in place to display His glory. It is the devil who perpetuates guilt and the belief that once even a thought crosses your mind that you have committed such an offense. Do you really think the devil can’t get into your thoughts? Well, he excels at that. He specializes in mind control. That is its entire purpose in eternity. Lower the believer or unbeliever to a place of condemnation to follow him there. The human mind is the devil’s playground. Have you ever wondered why there are so many ‘reincarnated’ Mary Magdalene in a mental hospital or why everyone curses in the name of Jesus, but not in Allah? Think of the devil as an immature bully. You wake up at night in a cold sweat thinking that you have thought about the unpardonable sin. Who put that thought there in the first place? You saw? Did you really go to bed that night with the goal of committing the unforgivable? So where do you think that thought came from? YOU? Unlikely. The devil simply hovers around you, waiting for your most vulnerable moment to strike. If you’ve been involved in seances and things like that, like contact with the dead, where do you think that force came from to lift objects or move glass on the Ouija board? YOU? Don’t be fooled please!
The same force that came to the session and told you about your grandfather or whoever it was and made it seem so convincing is the same force that will come to you and whisper bad thoughts like the unforgivable sin in your head and convince you that it is YOU. thought. Why do I know? Because I too was a victim of his sick game. I also almost ended up in a mental hospital due to the sleepless nights of anguish and screaming in my head. I know that YOU can overcome this with lots of love, prayer, and care. You need the support of fellow Christians and Christian counselors who have walked the path. You can overcome the diagnosis of mental illness: schizophrenia, manic depression, depression, etc. and rise up with the grace of God and his mighty Holy Spirit. If you are still breathing now, say this prayer: “Father, forgive me, I have believed a LIE. It was not my thoughts, but thoughts imprinted on me by the devil. I ask you to forgive me where I have left open doors.” and show me now, by Your Holy Spirit, how to get out of this negative place of condemnation to be myself. I was created by You and for You. If I am Yours, then You do not want to destroy Your own creation. stand out and love watching your creation grow and show you, not floating in a wild and depressed state of ups and downs. I know you love me. You sent your own Son, Jesus Christ, to die for me, if I were the only person on this earth, you would still have sent Jesus to make a way for me to return to you. I invite Jesus into my heart now and I thank you for your love and forgiveness of my stupid thoughts that I have allowed to grow in my head, I ask your forgiveness for allowing this to grow. That is the sin of which I am guilty. I believed a LIE. Thank you Jesus and I welcome the Holy Spirit into my heart now. Welcome Holy Spirit. “AMEN.
Now you are forgiven and you are a child of God. Never forget that. The next time the thought comes to your head, dismiss it simply by praying: “The Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, shed for my sins at Calvary, covers me and protects me from the evil plans of the devil by robbing me of my rightful joy.” in life with Jesus Christ, I am liberated by the shedding of the blood of Jesus and my life is now mine shared in glory with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. I believe in the Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are ONE. Jesus is the same Yesterday, Today and Always. “AMEN.
