Tony Horton, born Anthony Sawyer Horton, is a well-known fitness instructor. His most famous career endeavor of his is the exercise system called P90X. He was born in Rhode Island but raised in Connecticut. When it was time for him to go to college, he earned his degree from the University of Rhode Island. However, he was drawn to the West Coast and moved to Los Angeles.

Tony wished he had an acting career and even dabbled in stand-up comedy routines for a while. He was an avid athlete who wanted to avoid the bulky look of most bodybuilders and his lack of flexibility. Instead, he focused on training himself in the areas of speed and endurance and building muscle while maintaining range of motion. Later, Mark Sisson introduced him to interval training.

Horton established his personal training business, called ASH Fitness in the 1980s. He began developing plans for many well-known artists and different fitness magazines. He was a spokesperson for Nordic Track machines before starting his famous series.

Before P90X was born, Horton began by creating a program called Power 90 for the fitness company Beachbody in 1998. It contained intense cardiovascular exercises with strengthening exercises. A few other series were developed before the more intense P90X, with the goal of following rigorous exercise and meal plans to achieve often long-sought fitness goals.

His program is best known for creating muscle confusion to quickly build strength. He uses a variety of different movements and high energy exercises. It involves controlled but unknown movements to perform this task.

Shortly after the original series, the P90X+ was made to complement it in 2007. He then created the Ten-Minute Trainer for people on the go. While the workouts were short, they were effective. In 2008 he also performed a series of monthly one-on-one exercises.

Tony will be releasing a book in December of this year, which shows that he has a lot more to offer. In 2011, the new addition to the P90 series which is titled P90X:MC2.

Tony Horton is known for helping people build strength and stamina and the videos that got him there. However, he was also in movies early in his career: Last Action Hero and then The 13th Warrior. He also made exercise videos for children.

While it’s hard to believe anyone can keep himself so busy, you can also follow his official Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as his self-made blog. He continues to try to motivate people and inform Internet users about the options available to them. He updates people on his travels and his upcoming projects, but also gives advice on things as simple as drinking alcohol and caffeine, all the while making it clear that he loves his work. While P90X may have been what made it famous, Tony Horton has a lot more to offer and it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.
