You make an entry every day. But do you make an entrance? Do you stand out because of your good posture and confidence when you walk into a restaurant, classroom, boardroom, or on the catwalk?

Below are my 7 tips for moving with grace and poise. Whether you want to be a model or just walk beautiful, follow these tips:

1. Walk in a line. The men walk in two lines, the women in one. This does not mean crossing. Walk as if in a line, one foot directly in front of the other.

2. Toes slightly out. Don’t let your toes curl. Turn them down a bit.

3. Pull-ups. If you look at the ground, your whole body leans forward. The ground will be there for you. Promise.

4. Shoulders sitting and back. There is a yoga move that will put you in proper alignment. Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Reach down with your hands. Hit the ground hard. You will feel your back stretch up. Maintain that posture and relax your arms.

5. Hips below you. Imagine that your hip bones are pulling you forward. Don’t lean back, but tuck your butt in. This supports your back and looks fabulous.

6. Do not bend your knees. When women wear heels and don’t know how to walk properly in them, they tend to bend their knees. Stretch those knees when you step forward.

7. Make eye contact. What does eye contact have to do with walking? Everything. Look down and your body follows you. Make eye contact and you will come off as confident and strong. Hopefully, you’ll look convincing too!

Practice every day. A beautiful walk, especially in heels, is something to master.
