For most of us, getting out of our warm, comfortable beds and into our cars to fight traffic on the way to work is the most dangerous part of our job. But what about those people who find the drive to work the least dangerous part of their workday?

Deep sea fishing is the most dangerous job not only in the UK but in the world. This work is so dangerous that approximately fifty-two people die each year. Many people choose this profession simply because of the fantastic pay packages involved, however the pay packages directly correspond to the amount of danger involved in doing this job. The other consideration is that signing up is one thing, but once you’re really there, you can’t change your mind. You’re out there and working until the ship returns to port. It’s a good idea to consider this profession long before you board that ship and head out to sea. It is intended for the most turbulent waters and the most volatile conditions. Even if you are an expert swimmer, your chances of surviving an accident at sea as a deep sea fisherman are slim. This is especially true if you are a crab fisherman.

Next on the list is a bomb squad technician or a landmine remover. In this particular job, you may not think the salary matches the hazard level. These people risk both life and limbs to deactivate weapons and explosives. They even run the risk of entering war zones where the enemy is as likely to kill them as the device they are trying to disable. This may be an honorable job, but it is not easy. You will need to have a lot of guts and a lightning fast reaction time if you want to hold this position for a period of time.

The construction worker has the next most dangerous job. In this position, you are not unlikely to be injured and there is a great chance that you will die, especially if you are involved in commercial high-rise construction. This is an inherently dangerous occupation because it doesn’t just deal with heavy equipment; It also handles heavy materials, power tools, and high places. All this coupled with the possibility of human error make this an incredibly dangerous occupation, especially for those who are not agile and alert. Unlike deep sea fishermen; however, you can withdraw from this position at any time, if you decide that it is simply not for you. With the 2012 Olympics just around the corner, the accident rate is estimated to increase dramatically as work begins for this global event.
